Job Title: Career Navigator

Reports to: Vice President of Operations

 

Statement of Function:

Responsible for administration of grants, guidance and counseling, developing an educational and career plan with offenders, teaching employability skills and assisting participants with entering training, internships and job placement.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individual counseling, academic and career coaching, case management, and transition and referral series to program participants;

  2. Assess personal needs of program participants and identify resources to meet their needs;

  3. Assist program participants setting short- and long-term goals and with the development of an Individual Career Plan (ICP);

  4. Monitor progress toward completion of established goals;

  5. Assist participants in planning for future instances where support services will be needed;

  6. Maintain a schedule of appointments and meet with each participant per program requirements;

  7. Document participant files weekly and enter participant data and case notes into the appropriate data systems;

  8. Ensure that job and labor market information is readily available to all participants;

  9. Work closely with Community Partners and Career Technical program directors to ensure training goals are established and met;

  10. Utilize the Smart Start Employability Skills curriculum to teach employability skills;

  11. Work with MPIC Staffing Agency staff to ensure job opportunities and career assistance;

  12. Assist participants with building a MS Works Profile for job opportunities;

  13. Proctors WorkKeys exam;

  14. Inputs student demographic information into ProAssessment.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

Associates Degree

2 years of Comparable experience

* Experience can be substituted for educational attainment in some instances
